A classic saloon on the lift, painted in workshop gold
Late sun pours through a tall window into a stone-walled workshop. Up on a two-post lift sits a rounded old saloon, its paint faded to a patchwork of red, teal and rust, waiting for someone to get underneath it. Spanners hang in rows on the pegboard, there are tins and boxes on the shelves, a vice on the bench, and an oil drum and a stack of tyres in the corner. The whole scene glows amber and brown, with dust floating in the light.
This is the picture for anyone who has lost a Saturday in the garage and counted it a good day. Restorers, home mechanics and anyone who has brought an old car back to life will spot the details: the strip light, the parts on the wall, the drum by the lift.
It is busy in the best way, so it can take a large size. A framed canvas at the bigger end looks right above a workbench, a desk or a sofa in a games room, and the unframed poster is an easy start for a garage wall. On a mug it brings the workshop to the tea break. Partner it with Pit Lane, 1955, which shares its warm browns, or see the rest on our garage wall art page.
