How to frame car prints

A frame is the difference between a poster and an artwork. The good news: car art follows simple rules, because the artwork's ground colour does most of the deciding for you.

Black frames — for technical and night art

Black frames sharpen dark and technical artwork. Our blueprint car art — white linework on deep cyanotype — was designed with a black border in mind, and the JDM night drives read like cinema stills inside one. Black also suits offices, where it matches monitors and shelving hardware.

Oak frames — for warm and vintage art

Oak flatters warmth. The cream grounds of our vintage car posters and the Silhouette Era line art sit naturally in light wood — the combination reads mid-century and suits living rooms and bedrooms where black would feel severe.

When to skip the frame entirely

Two cases. First, working garages: glass near tools is a bad idea — hang unframed posters or canvas instead. Second, glare-prone walls (opposite windows, near TVs): our car canvas art has no glazing to catch reflections and adds texture a frame can't.
