Pit notes
Questions, answered
Is delivery included in the price? +
Yes. The price on the page is the price at checkout, with UK delivery inside it and no postage added at the end. The painted preview of your own car is free.
Can I turn a photo of my own car into wall art? +
Yes, that is the Paint Shop. Upload a photo of your car, pick a style (vintage racing poster, blueprint, single-line, neon night drive and more), and see a free watermarked preview before ordering. When you order, we use the exact selected artwork without its watermark and print it.
Why is a size blocked when I upload my photo? +
We measure your photo's pixels against each print size. Below 150 dpi a print looks soft, so we don't sell it. A 12-megapixel phone photo comfortably covers A3 and usually A2.
What size car poster should I get? +
A3 (297 x 420 mm) suits a hallway, a workbench or a gap between furniture; A2 (420 x 594 mm) holds a wall on its own above a sofa or a bed; 50x70 cm and 70x100 cm are for a wall with distance in front of it. The size guide works through all five.
How long does delivery take? +
Each print is made to order: production takes 2–4 working days, then delivery 2–5 working days depending on where you are. Most UK orders arrive within a week of ordering.
Can I return a print? +
If your order arrives damaged or wrong, we reprint or refund: photos within 30 days to hello@petrol-and-ink.com. Because every print (especially custom ones) is made just for you, we can't accept change-of-mind returns on personalised items, in line with UK consumer law.
Are these real photographs of famous cars? +
No, and that's the point. Every artwork is an original design in the spirit of an era: no manufacturer badges, no team liveries, no licensed archive photography. You get art with the soul of the machines, not a licensing workaround.
Will my printed Paint Shop artwork look like the preview? +
Yes. We use the exact artwork you select, without the watermark. Your chosen product may crop the edges as shown in its preview; a digital download contains the complete artwork.
What do you do with my uploaded photos? +
Uploads are used only to produce your preview and your print. Unpurchased uploads are deleted automatically after 30 days. Watermarked previews are saved for 30 days. We never use your photos for anything else.
What paper and materials do you use? +
One paper for every paper print: 250 gsm uncoated off-white archival stock. Canvas is stretched two centimetres deep over FSC-certified wood. Frames are wood, with a plexiglass front rather than glass: black or natural wood around a framed poster, and black, dark wood or natural wood around a framed canvas.
Do you ship outside the UK? +
Not at the moment: we deliver across the UK only. Prints are produced in the UK and delivery is included in the price you see.
